I had been collecting images for a few years and decided to make a selection out of them for my graduation thesis for the Rietveld Academie in the autumn and winter of 2017. The selection process evolved into making a selection in a order that felt logical to me. I imagined myself in the landscape or the building portraid and then travelling onto the landscape or building or street on the next one. The view from the window of Le Corbusier’s Sainte-Marie de Tourettes convent (image #30) made me think of Monet’s Train dans la Campagne (image #31); the town of Cornholme (which is were a film I once saw was filmed, image #3) made me think of WWI cemeteries I’ve visited (image #4). Thus it became a voyage through the images that starts in front of an English countryside home and ends in an interior photo of that same house. And so the voyage is looped and can be started again where it began.
